It was a warm day, and that ice cream was great!
Especially when we relaxed in the shade.
Of course, the main purpose of the day was to dedicate the new windmill, provided by the Escondido and Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary Clubs. We certainly did that! Below, Ed Gallo, JPA Boardmember and Escondido Mayor Pro Tem, thanks the Sunrise Rotary Clubs for their accomplishments.
JPA Executive Director Dick Bobertz read the plaque that was installed on the windmill recognizing the Sunrise Rotary Clubs achievement.
Nick Barnett and John Boyce recounted some of the key hurdles in the project, and thanked the many people who helped them finish it.
But then, the key question was - would it work? We all looked upward...
as the fan blades began to turn...
and produced water!
And there was yet more fun to come. Diane Nygard with the El Camino Quilters Club invited folks into the Sikes Adobe Historic Farmhouse to see the quilts on display for the day.
Many of us entered the raffles!
