June 2004
The project is nearing completion (or close to it!) for the June 26th dedication.

Wire cables are wrapped around the structure to provide necessary support since there will be no wood sheathing. The cables provide an interesting geometric pattern.

MWH volunteers tackle the 6" x 6" x 20' cross braces to support the soaring roof section that will frame views of the Wetland Restoration Project.
The fitting process for the cross braces required construction of a pattern to ensure a good fit.

There were no square cuts on this structure, and you can only cut the beam that will be installed once - it has to be right! Below, John Kearny of MWH makes the cut.

The support beam is hoisted up and bolted into place - IT FIT.

.
Remaining tasks to be done before the June 26th opening are: touch-up painting, gravel pavement, interpretive sign installation, translucent panel installation, and site clean-up.
The Friends of the San Dieguito River Valley will be joining the effort Saturday June 12 and the Del Mar Rotary will be back on Saturday the 19th to finish up.
Thanks to all, and see you at the dedication on the 26th.
