Strawberry Stand Kiosk Conversion

March 2004 Update - Del Mar Rotarians

On Saturday, February 28, the Del Mar Rotary Club organized 15 of their members to install over 125 tons of gravel for a 700-foot-long section of interpretive trail. The Del Mar Rotary Club selected the Strawberry Stand as a community project for their 50th year anniversary. They will also fund, build and install bases for all the interpretive signage that will make the site an environmental education asset for the community.

Other Rotarians join in the fun and the gravel flies.

Bob Fuchs, the incoming president of the Del Mar Rotary introduced the Strawberry Stand Interpretive site to the Del Mar Rotary. Here he introduces his grandson, Andrew, to the project.

Andrew brought his own tractor to help, but liked the sound of the big one, supplied and operated by B and M Grading.

Dee, one of the most enthusiastic of the Rotarians grabbed the compactor and went at it.

In the spirit of cooperation, other Rotarians line up for their turns.

The front-end loader keeps everyone supplied with gravel to spread.

Teamwork got the job done before lunchtime. After a few slices of pizza, the Rotarians went on to enjoy the rest of their weekend with the good feeling of community service – and probably a few sore muscles.
