Strawberry Stand
Wetland Learning Center

The Strawberry Stand Wetland Learning Center is open from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon on Saturdays. Please come and bring your kids to learn about wetlands and watersheds at this new facility.

Directions: From I-5, exit at Via de la Valle and go east to San Andres. Turn right at San Andres and park along the street. You will see the entry gate on the east side of the street across from the shopping center.

You may have driven past it and wondered what it is. With funding from Supervisor Pam Slater-Price, the San Dieguito River Park converted the old strawberry stand located on Via de la Valle near San Andres into a beautiful award-winning architectural shelter. In May 2005, a Watershed Awareness event held at the new Strawberry Stand Wetland Learning Center demonstrated that the Center provides an educational forum for special events. However, it also provides a location and materials for ongoing wetland education programs. The existing interpretive signage at the Wetland Learning Center offers self- guided educational opportunities. Interested volunteers were trained to provide information about wetlands, watersheds and the San Dieguito Wetland Restoration Project, which is soon to begin construction.
