Sikes Adobe Historic Farmstead
Windmill

Here is the site of the original, but long-gone well and windmill.

The Escondido and Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary Clubs, who chose to rebuild the well and windmill as their Centennial Rotary Club project, began by obtaining the help of Fain Drilling to redrill the well. Joe Fain donated his time for the project.
The Rotary Club members worked on June 4, June 11 and June 16 to assemble the windmill tower.

Then it had to be attached to the well so that it would work!

It was tricky lining up the large structure over the well, and fitting it into place.

Our fearless Escondido Sunrise Rotarian, Nick Barnett, prepares the tower to accept the fan blade assembly.

Long-time volunteer Tom Cook prepares to "antique" the modern fittings.

John Boyce, President of Escondido Sunrise Rotary supervises assembling the fan blades. This complicated assembly will have to wait for another day.

At the end of the workday, all finished except for the fan blade assembly and the water tank.

Finally, all complete in time for the July 30, 2005 Dedication Celebration (and Ice Cream Social!) Click here to see pictures of the Dedication Event.
