RIVER VALLEY GUIDE
Are you an enthusiastic, dedicated people-person who likes to teach
others while enjoying the outdoors? We want you to lead hikes for
the San Dieguito River Park! No previous experience is necessary.
Upon acceptance, you will receive the training you need. The San Dieguito River Park offers Spring training and Fall follow-up. Class sessions will cover the basics of interpretation,
plants, birds and other wildlife of the San Dieguito River Valley, how the Native Americans used native plants, the history of battles and later settlement of the valley, wetland habitat, first aid, and other relevant and interesting information.

DOCENTS
The Sikes Adobe Historic Farmstead and the Strawberry Stand Wetland Learning Center are the jewels in the San Dieguito River Park's crown. Oriented to History and Environmental Science respectively, these sites provide educational opportunities to the community at large. We are in need of "people" people to make a difference in the lives of children and adults through interpretation of the past and hands-on learning in the present as a means of protecting and conserving our vital cultural and natural resources for the future. Be a part of the growth in promoting the Coast to Crest Trail and its many facets. There are many trails to travel, and many tales to tell!

RETIRED PROFESSIONALS PROGRAM
The River Park can greatly benefit from experienced
retired professionals in such areas as GIS, Mapping, Resource Management,
Marketing
and Advertising, Office Management, Grant Writing, Development,
and
many other areas. Do you have ideas about how your skills can
help support the River Park? Let’s talk!

SPEAKERS BUREAU
We need articulate, energetic individuals to work with the San Dieguito
River Valley Conservancy to present an existing slide presentation
about the San Dieguito River Park to schools, civic groups and other
interested organizations. You will be supporting the River Park by
heightening the awareness of the community and building support for
the Park. Training and orientation will be provided. We are also
seeking a Speakers Bureau Coordinator to schedule speakers, take
requests for speaking engagements, etc. The Coordinator will not
be required to give presentations and may work through his or her
home

DESKTOP PUBLISHING
This opportunity is perfect for someone experienced
or interested in expanding his or her knowledge of desktop publishing.
You will
work with staff to create public information and interpretive
brochures, as well as office forms to help our volunteer programs
run smoothly.
Knowledge of email, Word, Publisher, and/or PageMaker is required
as well as a copy of the software on your home computer. This
is a great project for working mostly from your home!

EVENT AND VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR ASSISTANT
Assist with various projects throughout the year, including, but not limited to, environmental education, volunteer management, grant writing, and public relations. This is an ideal position for those individuals desiring to keep a professional "foot in the door". Let us know if you have special interests or ideas about how this job might work for you! We offer a flexible schedule and an abundance of gratitude.

DUST DEVILS
Want to get up close and personal with the dirt
and plants of the River Park? Join the team of Dust Devils who work
on trail maintenance
and habitat restoration! On Tuesdays and/or Thursdays work on
hands-on projects throughout the park with the Rangers. This is a
great
way to learn more about the park while contributing to the maintenance
of the habitat and trails. Dust Devils work side-by-side with
Park Rangers and provide invaluable help!

COMMUNITY OUTREACH REPRESENTATIVES
Many events offer opportunities for the Park to set up a display booth and distribute information. Interested volunteers could staff and/or manage booths, perfect our displays, and help schedule other volunteers for the day of event coverage. At these events, you'll meet a lot of people who will be interested in learning more about the San Dieguito River Park.

SAN DIEGUITO CLIPPERS PROGRAM
Do you comb your community and local newspapers each
day? Help the River Park by simply watching for articles, editorial
pieces, and letters to the editor covering the River Park, clipping
them out, and mailing them to us here at the office. This helps us
to stay on top of what is being written about us, and we do archive
them to serve as future resources.

EAGLE SCOUT PROGRAM
The River Park’s comprehensive Eagle Scout program helps guide
scouts to complete projects that provide a real lasting benefit to
the community and a solid learning experience for the scout. Click here to read more about the program, see a current list of projects that are available, and download an application form.
