David Hekel, a Senior Park Ranger and avid mountain biker, recently completed a bike ride through the entire San Dieguito River Park from Crest to Coast. He follows in the footsteps of former Executive Director, Dick Bobertz, Poway City Councilman, Jim Cunnigham, and San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy Board Member, Bill Simmons, who hiked from Crest to Coast over 6 separate days in 2013-2014.
Read about David’s journey on his blog, “Ramblings of a mountain biking Park Ranger.” You can also read about the Crest to Coast hike here.

Please note: currently about 45 of 70 miles of the Coast to Crest Trail are constructed and open to the public. Significant gaps exist throughout the corridor. Road detours or special permission was granted to cross private property during both “Crest to Coast” journeys mentioned.
