The San Dieguito Monthly Bird Count identified 101 species in February. No new bird species were seen this month, so the cumulative species total remains at 235. Click here for the PDF document with the detailed monthly results through February 2018.
Between bird counts, it looks like the ospreys laid eggs in the western platform nest some time during the last week of January.
SDRP Trail Patrol Volunteer Ginni Kitchen took the featured image of a Whimbrel at the San Dieguito Lagoon in December 2017. Whimbrels have shorter down-curved beaks than Long-billed Curlews.
