The San Dieguito Monthly Bird Count identified 93 species in June, which is the highest ever for this month. No new bird species were seen, so the cumulative total remains at 234. Click here for the PDF document with the detailed monthly results through June 2017.

According to bird count leader Jayne Lesley, some noteworthy birds were a flock of Lawrence’s Goldfinch, singing Least Bell’s Vireos, Greater Roadrunners, a family of Ruddy Ducks with 5 ducklings in the “square pond” at the polo fields, a Common Gallinule, an Ibis, a Peregrine Falcon, Western Bluebirds, White-tailed Kites, and lots of Green Herons flying around.
