The San Dieguito Lagoon Bird Survey results through November 2014 are in. Two new species were spotted in October – Brewer’s Sparrow and Solitary Sandpiper. This brings the cumulative species total to 223.

92 bird species were identified in October’s bird survey.
112 bird species were identified in November.

The increased number of species seen in November indicates winter migrating birds are beginning to stop over at the San Dieguito Lagoon as they travel south on the Pacific Flyway.
