The San Dieguito Monthly Bird Count identified 112 species in March. No new bird species were seen this month, so the cumulative species total remains at 242. Click here for the PDF document with the detailed monthly results through March 2019.

The featured image of a Brown Pelican caught in a funny pose was taken from the Old Grand Avenue Bridge at the San Dieguito Lagoon by SDRP Trail Patrol Volunteer Ginni Kitchen in December 2017. According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Brown Pelicans were listed as an endangered species in 1970, and they were removed from the list completely in 2009.
