99 bird species were identified in May’s bird survey. Although no new species were seen, lead birder Jayne Lesley reported sightings of a few notable species, including a Bonaparte’s gull, Least Bell’s Vireos (an endangered species) at Horsepark and the polo fields along the river, two Lazuli Buntings below the north end of Crest Canyon, and a few singing male Blue Grosbeaks near the San Andres Dr. Interpretive Kiosk. The cumulative species total remains at 225.
