The San Dieguito Monthly Bird Count identified 101 species in November. No new bird species were seen, so the cumulative total remains at 231. Click here for the PDF document with the detailed monthly results through November 2016.
According to bird count leader Jayne Lesley, some noteworthy birds were a female Vermilion Flycatcher, two Western Snowy Plovers, a Wilson’s Warbler, lots of American Pipits, a juvenile Loggerhead Shrike, a Roadrunner, a large flock of White-throated Swifts, and two Golden-crowned Sparrows.
The featured image of a Loggerhead Shrike was taken by SDRP Trail Patrol Volunteer Ginni Kitchen at the Bernardo Bay Natural Area back in January 2015.
