Well despite a few groups feeling as though this month’s count was a bit slow, we managed to see 106 species which is quite good for October. In addition, we had 4 new species! We had a Palm Warbler in the tomato fields of area 3, a Least Flycatcher in the dried up pond behind Del Mar Public Works in area 4, and in area 5 Crest Canyon we had 2 White-breasted Nuthatches and 2 Mountain Chickadees! This brings our overall cumulative total to 255.
This months featured image is of a White-breasted Nuthatch. Look for them foraging in the pines around Crest Canyon.
