The San Dieguito River Park has an opening for a Park Ranger I – Interpretation/History.

The duties of this position are to protect, preserve, enhance, and interpret park areas; administration operations of Sikes Adobe Historic Farmstead, assist in planning, organizing, implementing, direct volunteer and educational programs, assist the visiting public toward appropriate and enjoyable use of the Park; train and work with volunteers; lead volunteer work events to construct and maintain trails and rehabilitate disturbed habitat; perform park operations; ensure safety, perform public relations, and perform any related work in order to implement the Park’s mission statement.

This position will work under the general direction of, and report directly to, the Manager of Interpretation and Outreach. They will assist Manager of Interpretation and Outreach in determining educational programs and activities offered to park visitors and school groups, with the goal of developing a sense of personal stewardship of the San Dieguito River Park.

The San Dieguito River Park works to acquire land for conservation, constructs and maintains trails and pathways, restores native habitat, and interprets and protects natural, cultural, and water resources within the San Dieguito River Valley Corridor, which crosses five municipal jurisdictions in San Diego County. In addition, the JPA conducts numerous educational activities in the form of interpretive displays, habitat restoration and trail maintenance work parties, and outreach programs that focus on watershed protection.
