The San Dieguito Lagoon Boardwalk provides 0.15 miles of trail for hiking only. It begins with a short concrete sidewalk coming down from Jimmy Durante Blvd. onto a section of trail on a berm next to the river, which transitions into the boardwalk, ending with a viewing platform. There are interpretive panels, a bench, and a viewing scope. Located adjacent to the San Dieguito River and restored wetlands, the Boardwalk provides a welcome opportunity for nature study.
The Boardwalk was designed by KTU+A Landscape Architects. Marathon Construction was the contractor. Their work began in September 2006 and finished in mid-January 2007. The deck boards on the boardwalk were installed by the Del Mar Rotary in a mammoth work party on April 7, 2007.
Donations can be made by “purchasing a plank” for $100. You will receive a plaque on “your” plank with the designation of your choice. Please click here for more information about this program.
Project Location: San Dieguito Lagoon
The 530 foot long Boardwalk is a spur trail off of the main Coast to Crest Trail at the San Dieguito Lagoon, just east of Jimmy Durante Boulevard and north of the San Dieguito River.
