This is an exciting opportunity for a Parks and Recreation leader to serve in the chief executive officer role for this park agency. With the renewal of the Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement, recent completion of the San Dieguito Lagoon restoration project, and a need to connect the Coast to Crest Trail at several important gaps, this position provides the opportunity for the right parks executive to lead the San Dieguito River Park at an important and dynamic time.
The Executive Director serves as the top level executive of the organization, and reports to the Board of Directors. The position currently oversees a staff of eleven persons, including a Principal Planner, Resource and Trails Manager, six rangers, and interpretive and education ranger, museum manager, and an administrative position in the office. It is proposed that the current Assistant Executive Director position be discontinued, and a management analyst position be created in the coming fiscal year. The Executive Director is responsible for directing all programs and services of SDRP, park planning, acquisition and development, and park maintenance and operations. Only three persons have served as the Executive Director since the JPA’s inception.
The deadline to apply is 5:00pm, Thursday, April 30, 2015.
