We had better coverage this time and we saw a total of 96 species, which is a good number for September, despite not seeing too many migrants.  Our overall cumulative total stands steady at 251. We got to area 4 just as the sun was coming up and were rewarded with a Barn Owl over the dried up pond behind Del Mar Pubic Works.  Not a new bird for the count,  but we have only seen it on a few other counts, and it’s always nice to be rewarded for getting up early!
