Requests are frequently made to the City or County of San Diego and the San Dieguito River Park for permission to hold events on River Park trails. The purpose of our policy is to provide direction and guidelines as to how requests will be processed.
The River Park regulates events that have the potential to impact habitat and trail uses within our jurisdiction. Examples of the types of events covered under this policy include: charity events, high school physical education activities, exercise workshops, reunions, bicycle rides, church and scout community events, fitness functions, weddings, etc.
The planned size of the event and the proposed location determine how much the trail and surrounding environment would be impacted, and how much of an impact on staff time there would be. This information is used to evaluate the proposed event, to decide whether or not the event should be allowed, and to determine the permit fee.
Trail Events
Trail Events are those that would have impact on staging areas and trails. Examples include run/bike races, exercise workshops, and education activities.
Please download and read the SDRP trail event policy for complete details. The application is included at the end of the document.
