Guidelines
- A parent, guardian, or organization group leader must accompany volunteers under the age of 16.
- A parent or guardian must sign permission forms for volunteers under the age of 18.
- Meeting places and times vary. Check the Events Calendar for details.
- Water, snacks, tools, and gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
- Sturdy shoes or boots are required.
- Recommended: long-sleeve shirt, long pants, hat, eye protection, sunscreen

Monthly Trail Maintenance
2nd Sunday of each month, 8-11 a.m.
Location varies monthly – check the Events Calendar for this month’s location
Work with Rangers to improve the trails in the River Park! Unmaintained trails can quickly become rutted, unstable, or eroded, and are generally unpleasant to hike, bike, or ride a horse on. Tasks can include clearing and creating drainages, filling ruts, trimming plants, weed whipping overgrown areas, resurfacing trails, and more.
Water, snacks, tools, and gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
Monthly Habitat Restoration
3rd Saturday of each month, 8-11 a.m.
Location varies monthly – check the Events Calendar for this month’s location
Work with Rangers to improve the habitat in the River Park! Tasks can include planting native plants, removing invasive species to protect wildlife habitat, and maintaining new restoration areas.
Water, snacks, tools, and gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
Special Events
In addition to our recurring monthly projects, we occasionally host special volunteer events like California Coastal Cleanup Day in September. Check the Events Calendar for any upcoming work parties.

Cache In Trash Out® (CITO) Events
Cache In Trash Out® is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources! Learn more here.
