We had one new species in the August count. Two juvenile Gull-billed terns were seen on Sunday August 2nd. This brings our cumulative total species, over 10+ years of the count, to 246 species. This months bird survey had a total of 89 species, which is good for the quiet month of June. Lots of juvenile birds out! The San Dieguito Monthly Bird Count this month was not as spectacular as the April count but still very good. They had a total of 107 species, holding at 245 overall. The San Dieguito Monthly Bird count had a very good count for April despite, or perhaps because of, the COVID restrictions. They had a total of 122 species and high numbers of many species.
